Does anyone have a Suunto Cobra that knows how to switch it from NITROX mode back to AIR mode? We are currently diving in the keys - did a NITROX course yesterday and can't get the computer back into air mode. The owners manual doesn't say how to do it. Is there some sort of "lock out" after diving NITROX that stops you from switching back to air within a specified time? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the Cobra is the same as the Vytec in this regard. Once you switch to Nitrox mode, you will not be allowed to switch back to air until you completely off gas. It's just a "feature" built into the software. This has happened to me before - no problem, just set your mix for 21%.

I noticed that also with my cobra. You can switch from air to nitrox from air but not visa versa, no biggie though. Any ideas to why they set it up this way?

I will check tomarrow not at home but yes it can, I believed it showed how in the manual but will doit when i get home and write it down sorry not home .

I believe you still have to wait until the computer clears you as being completely off-gassed first. But it can be changed as normal in the preferences.

I don't have the manual with me :) but I believe this is exactly what is recommended in the Mosquito manual, too.

As stated: it'll let you do it when the "do not fly" time is done counting down.

Something else of note: if left dry and untouched for 2 hours (I'm pretty sure it's 2 hours) the Nitrox mix defaults to 21%.

Just set it to 21% Nitrox and go diving. That's "air" :D

The mix will default back ONLY IF there is no repetitive series underway. Once you dive, until the no fly time has expired the gas mix does NOT revert.

Like everyone else has said just set it to 21%...the reason for this is once you switch to Nitrox it begins calculating your oxygen exposure based on your mix so you do not exceed limits. If you continue to dive after switching to nitrox mode, whether it is with 21%, 32%, or any mix you still need to calculate your oxygen exposure so as not to exceed and that is why it will not allow you to switch back to air mode. Once your do not fly counts down, you can switch back to air.

Yep. That 21% EANx gas is good stuff...........
