.... Well, I guess it is a bit better... Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to body shame anyone, but I've seen way too many fat old Russian guys wearing speedos in the resorts' restaurant at all hours of the day for their entire stay. Even the staff was "talking amongst themselves" away from the seating area.... Nothing against Russians, or folks with a belly, I just happen to know that the particular group of guys at one of our local resorts were Siberian-Russian.... :rofl3:

Edit to add: Admittedly, this has only been a two-time occurrence, at neighboring resorts, but believe me, the image is hard to forget... LOL

Many horror stories about Russians and their lack of sense of modesty. Several times I saw Russian military advisors in very conservative Libya going to the beach and actually changing into their swim suits in public to the horror and shock of the locals. One time a public beach was full of Libyan families, young and old men and women, enjoying the very nice beach when a bus full of Russians came to the parking lot and the Russians walked to the beach and started changing into their bathing suits from their street cloths and going naked in the process in the middle of the full beach. A complete state of panic and anger propagated through the crowd with women and kids running away and the men picking up whatever they can find to arm themselves to attack the naked Russians and teach them a lesson in modesty. Luckily the bus driver and the beach guards intervened and threw whatever they can find to cover the Russians and escorted them away to their bus. It was shocking and funny. The bus driver spent almost an hour apologizing to the angry crowd who were still trying to go after the Russians.

When I went to roatan it was same with the European divers.

I cover myself as soon as the wetsuit is off to dry out and the shorts or jeans go on. I don't wander around in just my skimpy speedo.

Hahaha, glad to know I'm not the only one who's seen that....

But really, I don't give two cares in the world to whatever anyone wants to wear under their wetsuit, or not...

When I do wear my 3mm Full, I wear jammers under, most of the time. Lately, I've just been diving boardshorts and rashguard, so it doesn't really matter then.... LOL

OMG :rofl3::rofl3:

Again, I'm not trying to pick on any Russians, my bad for mentioning.... but my gosh, that's a funny story right there.... Really though, I sort of think we can all take a lesson from situations like that. We're all human, we all have different bodies, and we all change into our swimwear, whether scuba or beach.... so what? IMO it's not a big deal, but I know there are those out there who seem to care, for whatever reason...

Aside from modesty standards in different cultures, some people simply must not go naked or wear skimpy bathing suits in public no matter what the local culture. It brings nightmares to see some bodies naked in public :)

I guess working in a hospital has inured me to all sorts of body types. It’s only unpleasant to see if one makes it so in their own mind.

A community service announcement for any Lybians planning to visit Ukraine or other European parts of the area formerly known as "Russia": there's a river island in the middle of Kiev, capital of Ukraine, whose entire Southern half gets occupied by nekkid people every summer weekend. All sorts of shapes, ages, and grooming styles.

The ones of attractive age tend to be not interested. Weird, that.

My daughters were mortified when I bought a pair of jammers, almost as bad as buying a speedo in their minds. I also have swim trunks (which still bunch up a little). The jammers are nice because I can wear them under street clothes and my wetsuit slides right over them. I am not sure what my daughter’s issue was, she has dual citizenship in Germany and I as I recall, German men were not afraid of ye’ olde banana hammock....

Almost as funny as wearing hijab burkini to the Young Men Christian Association pool, wouldn't you agree.
