Hi all! I am new to this board and to scuba and need your help. My husband has planned a Coz trip and we leave next Friday. Unfortunately, I never purchased a new suit (the old one is too big - yippee!!) and now they are out of season. I have shopped online but to no avail.

So here's my question: Is there a good place for me to find a suit in Coz? We are staying at Hotel Bahia and diving with Aldora - so something close to there would be good, but we are all about adventure!!

Any advice would be helpful - oh and is a one-piece better under a wetsuit and diveskin (if I wear it) or is it just personal preference?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

:)

I personally like a two piece tankini for being on the boat, or shore.
It's easeir to use the head, if you only have to pull down one small part, and can still stay covered incase the door, is not that secure, if you get my drift.
I'm not sure what size you are now, but there are tons of links I can give you to on line suits, if you do what tell us your size.

Other then that, if you're a 5 to 14, you should be able to find something in town. There is tons of shopping in Cozumel.

Also, you could always take the ferry over to Playa Del Carmen, where there is even more shopping.
Have fun. Cozumel is the best!

I use a two-piece basically for the reasons Natasha mentioned but also, one-piece suits don't fit me well as I'm taller than average. Even the "tall" suits don't fit unless I get a suit 2 sizes too big!
I always choose the bottom piece as shorts instead of bikini bottoms. I floss my teeth, not my butt!

There's nothing at any of the department stores near you? There's always some suits here in Sears etc. as well as suit stores like Bikini Village but maybe that's just a Canadian thing.

If you are really in a pinch, I've used work out wear - pair of lycra shorts & sports top/jog bra whatever you want to call them. Target always seems to have a decent selection @ a reasonable price.

I usually wear a 1 piece, just my fear of pulling off skin & having my bottoms go as well. I have worn tankinis as well with no problems.

Wifey dives in a Tankini. Mostly for the convenience of using the head. Plus, she's the modest type :)

I think that she got her's at Lands End. They actually have a cool online manequin that makes it easy to shop for clothes...

Just my 2 cents...

Thanks to all of you for your ideas. :-)

I have looked online and just haven't liked what I have seen. I guess I like to try them on.

I appreciate the workout wear idea. That was really creative! I may pack that just in case....

I think I will go for the tankini thing. Maybe I need to take one more trip to the mall. I just live in a small town in East Texas - there aren't alot of options for me.

It might also be fun to just find a suit in Coz - kind of a souvenier!

I am really excited for our trip - this will be my first real scuba trip since my OW training in July.

Anyway, thanks again!! :D

Hi there...

Sounds like you are going to have the best time out there... hmmm.

I'm not sure where you are flying from, but I often end up buying my stuff in the airport, they seem to realise that seasons don't really count to people trotting around the globe. i bought my last few cozzies just before take-off.

I use a two piece too, well I like to get a bit of a tan... and the head issue is a valid point too!

Just be wary of using ones with ties at the sides... it can be a bit of a pain after an hour of your weight belt squishing down on the knots... ouch! :D
