Ok, let me start by saying that I can swim. I just don't use proper strokes. So I am looking for someone in the Miami area that can help me with my technique.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

You really have a couple of other options. As former Fin Swimming Director for the Underwater Society of America, I would recommend taking up fin swimming. There are a couple of web sites available:

European Fin Swimming

USA Fin Swimming

I believe that the University of Miami also has a Master's Swimming program, that may include people from the community. If not, they could give you information to find a Master's Swimming program near you. Here's another web site that shows the US Masters Swimming programs in the World, and Florida has at least three entries:

US Masters Swimming Clubs

The Masters Swimming programs help a lot with both fitness (speed and endurance) and stroke technique, and will accept just about anyone willing to learn.

Good luck,

Ratliff makes a good point about the Master's program...just a bunch of guuys who are always willing to teach/learn/have fun.

IF you get ambitious and want to try to describe your "problems" you can PM me, and I could help you. I am a former collegiate swimmer and part-time college coach. I can tell you all kinds of neat tricks.

I just checked out the site I showed above for the World Record times, and the fastest human in the water is:

Evgenij Skorjenko 84 RUSSIA
His time: 14.51 seconds for an underwater breathhold (apnea) swim of 50 meters. He set the record in 2001.

The older (1980's) record of 14.99 seconds was held by a Chinese fin swimmer.

That's faaaaaaaaasssssssssssttttttt!!!!!!!!
