Thanks Everybody. I'll try the oils this weekend, see how it works and go from there.
I had excess wax cleared from my ears about 6 weeks ago which started this whole thing so it looks like I'm at the drops in the ear stage.
Diving tomorrow, with my own set of gear for the first time. I'll add some oil and drop to my kit!
Thanks

I have to agree with DocV....but I had an experience in Palau recently....and used the not recommended mix for one time use....and it saved the remaining 2 weeks. I would not recommend it for everyday....so I keep it around hesitatingly.....Dy NREMT/DMT

Nay, there might be more than wax that the ENT needs to clean. I had no excess wax to get rid of when my doctor cleaned my ear: it was the secretion that the infection produced that he had to clean. This was produced in less than a week (actually 5 days to be exact, from my dive to the time that my ear canal swelled to the point of preventing any hearing). Mine might have been an extreme case, I don't know

In any case, try to see a qualified doctor if you still have problems.

It actually wasn't. I could not feel anything was wrong until the ear got blocked: no rash, no itching... nothing. I was very surprised to hear that I had an infection, I though it was just a wax plug.

when i was little, i had ear and throat infections practically every other week. it was
very painful...

but i'm glad to hear yours wasn't.

strangely enough, once i hit eight or nine, i stopped having trouble and as a diver,
i NEVER have trouble clearing or anything. i haven't had any ear trouble for about
30 years now... isn't that odd?

Odd or not... keep it that way!

As for me... it was painful enough to be out of the water for a month!
