I'm a Fish!
Im just wondering if there are different valves for different tanks? For example say I get 2 worthington LP85's and I want to swap the valves, one left hand and one right hand. Will any valve work or is there different sizes or thread patterns?

There are two modern straight thread standards 3/4" NPS which is the most common and 7/8" UNF found on true HP cylinders (3500psi). Others include 1/2" tapper and straight, most found on pre 1970 LP steel cylinders.

So swapping is not a big deal. HOWEVER, each valve contains a burst disk that is rated for a particular working pressure. For instance, one should not take a valve from a 3442 psi cylinder and put in on a 2400 psi cylinder unless they change out the burst disk. And visa-versa.

For your example given both are LP cylinders they are probably the same so swap away.

So if I find a valve such as the listed below, does that mean I can use it on a HP or LP tank if I get the 2400/4000 PSI burst disk?

If there is a difference between HP and LP burst disk then how do people with LP tanks get their tanks overfilled?
