I posted this in a few spots to make sure anyone who might be interested can check it out... Wanted to make sure the Texas crew had a heads up.

David Sipperly, a multiple time world spear fishing champion, will be coming into Dallas to do a free seminar on spear fishing. If you are thinking of getting into it, and want to learn some basic info, or if you are a pro looking for some fine points... David can probably help.

One evening only, on Monday the 7th... Starting at 6... Call to reserve your free spot.

If it had been on a weekend I definitely would have been there.

Is spear fishing legal in Texas?? For some reason I'm thinking it's not (but not very sure of this)

UH...what qualifies as a 'rough' fish?

Carp and bowfin.

Everything else is classified as a fresh water game fish.

Personally I would'nt mess with fresh water spearing in Tx. Out in the Gulf on the other hand....

Being as it takes me less than an hour to get to a southern Ok. lake, I'm interested in catfish. A little cornmeal, some seasoning, hot oil in a skillet over a campfire...and some hushpuppies!

and you can spear these "rough" fish in ANY lake in Texas??

I don't know. I don't have my outdoor annual handy.

Carp are not considered a game fish. There is no season, minimum or maximum size, or limit.
