I have owned a suunto vyper for three years. I have used the dive manager 1 for two of those years and dive manager 2 for about a year and a half. Recently coming back from a trip to Cozumel I went to down load the dives and nothing occured. It will download the first 64 dives in the computer but not the last 6. I tried another computer and a new down load cable but again nothing happened. It still only download the first 64. Can anyone shed light on this problem or has anyone had this occur with theirs?

If anyone can help you, besides Suunto that is, it would likely be CIBDiving. He 'specializes' in the suunto computer internal workings and He's the guy that wrote the Gekko download hack. You can Email him from this site - Liquid Image Photo

I download from 2 Vypers, using a cable I bought on eBay and have never had problems downloading any dives.

But here's a long shot idea - long shot since I'd assume you'd have noticed if this was happening. In my experience Dive Manager displays dives in semi-random order and it would be pretty typical for my last 6 to show up in the middle someplace, stuff like that. I've always assumed this happens to everyone and is just part of the general "Suunto Dive Manager sucks" issue, but maybe not.

Maybe this is too obvious, but it's not just the dive computer being out of memory, is it? The OP said "first 64 dives". Is this the first 64 dives chronologically, or does "first" have nothing to do with chronological order?

The Suunto computers should "forget" the oldest dives if they run out of memory. Similar to what Damselfish said, after your download, check both the dive log panel, and also the dive computer panel. (In the middle panel on the left, if you expand the your dive computer it will show all the dives on the computer, including ones that you have told SDM to forget about. Maybe SDB has gotten itself confused.

The other suggestion is as hdugan suggested - try downloading with something else. You can download a trial version of DivingLog4.0 (Diving Log 4.0 - Scuba Log, Scuba Logbook, Dive Log, Divelog - Logbook software for scuba diving - Logbuch Software zum Tauchen). The trial will only allow 10 log book entries, but if you do a Suunto download it will download all the data but only allow you to save 10 into the logbook.

Could the computer's date have gotten mis-set so that the new dives appear to be from older dates than other dives that have already been downloaded? Is there an option to download ALL dives, not just the ones since the last download?

Another long shot: can you check that the date, particularly the year, has been set correctly on your dive computer?
