Lynne is correct in stating that your body will best tell you which computer is right for you.

Over the years I have found, personally, that my body is very DSC tolerant - in as much as when you consider the big four (skin bends, nausea, vomiting, joint pain) I've never experienced them - while on dives when I've been elbow to elbow with my buddy, he/she has.

My point is this: My Suunto was cramping my style. I want max BT, and my Suunto was preventing me from that. I now dive in gauge mode exclusively except when I'm diving with my wife, who is much less tolerant and much more susceptible to the big four.

A buddy of mine dives with an Aeris Atmos. The differences between the BT (and especially the deco obligations demanded for the second, third and fourth dives) between my Suunto Vytec and the Aeris were significant. Even when set to its most liberal setting, the Suunto is excruciating conservative to me.

Reading through the dive computer show down prepared by the Catalina Chamber (and featured recently in some dive mag) demonstrated what we discovered long ago about my Suunto and the Aeris. Unless I'm diving with Jaye, my Suunto is put to sleep and in Gauge mode only.

I have a question for you is your RGBM set at 100% or at 50 % I have mine set at 50 and find it no more conservative than other computers

JRock, So when you dive with other computers, the 50% shows no difference? I have heard that no matter what you do to the suunto they are show less BT then say like the ProPlus 2 by Oceanic. The ProPlus 2 is kinda where I am heading, but still up in the air.

I own the Suunto and I have rented others from dive shops as far as i can tell between what i remember and checking my log book i don't see any difference on dives that i have done with both computers I like my Vytec and i like what Sunnto does everything is expandable and interchangeable

My computer doesn't have a RGBM setting adjustment. I have the Gekko and it allows for altitude, personal, and PPO2 adjustment. I have the altitude and personal settings at 0 and the PPO2 at 1.6 bar. This is the most liberal my computer is capable of being set.

As I stated in a previous post, my Suunto is more liberal than my Uwatec on the first dive of the day, but then becomes more conservative on consecutive dives, especially if you I make a reverse profile dive.

I like my Gekko and am considering taking advantage of Suunto's trade in program. I like the deep stop algorithm available in some of the new computers, as well as, PC interface capabilities and the option to change to gauge mode.

As I stated before. Conclusion. There's not a significant difference. I would suggest buying a computer with a user replaceable battery.

On the Cobra, how do you make it more "liberal" ? I can't seem to find any settings for adjusting the RGBM model from 100% to 50% or changing the PP02 anywhere.

Thanks! (:
