I have used the Suunto DM with my Cobra for about a year on my PC, and just bought a PDA (Palm OS 5.4). I found an old thread about connecting a Suunto to a PDA, but I don't have a serial port on my PalmOne Tungsten E2, and it didn't come with a cradle, just a cable. Any clues on what I need to buy/steal/make to hook this up?

Thanks!

I had been trying to figure out the same thing for a LONG time, int he end, I just gave up and bought a Zire 71 as there is a serial cable available for it as an option. As much as I wanted an E2, I couldn't use it for the stuff I wanted it for (uploading EFI maps to my motorbike and downloading my dive logs from my Mosquito). I think there is someone who makes a custom serial cable for the E2, but it is insanely expensive (about $80 or so) Almost as much as I paid for the Zire 71...

Would this work http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/USA19HS/ (a Keyspan Serial to USB Adapter) I use it to connect the Cobra interface to my Mac with no problems (using software from http://divelog.actwin.com/) I don't know about PDA's - do they have USB capibilities?

The PDA would need a USB Host capability. Many don't. My Zaurus does, but it runs linux and I haven't tried to see if it will recognize my Mosquito.

Many new PDA's are using a USB native connection, while some use a serial-to-usb converter. Try to find out what yours has by looking into some of the PDA forums found on the net. I'm sure that several people have come up with a way to capitalize on the connector.
