I am looking into buying another computer. My LDS is giving me a pretty good deal on the Suunto D9. I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about this or even better if anyone has this computer and would give me the pros and cons of this computer?

I have the Suunto Vytec now and love it. If I were to buy a new computer I would probably get the D9.

What are they saying is a good deal? LP has them for $1400, and you can probably get them for that price or less from Divetank, with a full manufacturer's warranty.

PM, Hoosier if you don't get more info.

The D9 looks really sweet, but it doesn't do a whole lot more than the stinger or vytec.
It has the digital compass and the air integration, but the transmitter costs another couple hundred $$$.
I'd ask around a bit and see if the D9 is really for you. What kind of diving do you do?

It does employ the new deep stop algorithms though, which is definitely the way to go. And it's very pretty. Still too expensive though.

Someone has the whole transmitter/watch combo new on ebay for 1100 buy it now.

True, but there was already a recall on them, so while its a good thing, It might be better to wait for a year or 3 before investing in one to be sure that all bugs are clear.

Totally agree :D

From what I have heard the compass is about worthless.

Thanks guys. My LDS is giving a pretty good price for it. They are offering to sell it to me at $1000 including the transmitter. But about the recall, what was the problem?

Buy it! That is a great price for new. Doesn't matter if it is recalled, if purchased from an authorized dealer they will replace it for free. They gave me a brand new vytec when it was recalled years ago.
