I have a Sunnto D6 and have had it for @4 years and never had any issues with it. However twice recently the time has just reset itself to 00:00 15 April 2004. I had the battery changed about 6 months ago so don't think that is the issue.

The time reset is not a huge problem in itself other than being quite annoying but slightly worried that it could be a sign of a bigger problem.

Has anyone seen or heard about this before? Or any thoughts?

I'm unfamiliar with the D6, but I would be concerned. I'd be prepared for a reset underwater.

A bad battery contact would theoretically be able to do this. Again, I know nothing about the D6, but I might be inclined to have it examined/serviced.

also, (especially if you have any expensive dive trips planned) try to bring a back-up computer with you on all dives, just in case. Like you, I'd be nervous that the failure you're seeing could be a prelude to larger/more serious problems and get it examined/fixed, or maybe start shopping for a replacement and use it for credit on a new unit.
