I bought the PC Cable from Ebay. It came with drivers, etc. I believe I have the drivers and Suunto Dive Manager loaded correctly.

My issue, is that when I plug my computer in during the Download Wizard, I get an error that says "Device Not Found." I have tried to look on Suunto's website. I have re-loaded drivers, etc.

I am getting very frustrated....:)

Anyone else had this issue?

Thanx in advance!

What ver SDM are you using ... spent a frustrating few Hrs trying to get my rebuilt PC to work ... and finally found out the German Manufactured cable (eBay) does NOT work after SDM ver 2.7 .... (confirmed by manufacturer)
I had installed 3.1 .... and kept getting "Device not found"

Removed 3.1 aqnd installed 2.7 ... now all OK.

I just tried mine on my laptop with Version 3.1 installed and it does work. I bought my cable off Ebay and it has a little LED and imprint "Smartinterface" on it. It also came with a little velcro cable tie.

I recall I did not install the drivers on the CD and the seller advised me not to if it works without these. I wonder if the drivers on the CD are old and don't work with Version 3.1? Have you tried just reinstalling version 3.1, as it may include USB drivers.

I bought mine from "Ummgamar" on eBay he has been making these for some years.

I tried reinstalling 3.1 ... it does install Suunto drivers, but does not work ... keeps stating 'no device found'

Tried it with both drivers ... still the same.

Manufacturer advisesd the USB interface does not work above ver 2.7

When did you buy yours? I don't recall the name of the seller of mine but it was from Germany, and I bought mine a couple of years ago when 2.6 was the current version.

When the download wizard shows up, I click on the down arrow on SelectCOM-port to pull down an item that says "Com11 USB serial port". In fact I just plugged the cable in to this old Desktop PC running Windows XP and as soon as I plugged the cable in it installed the drivers and recognized the cable.

And of course you selected the correct computer model in the wizard?

Maybe you have a different make to me .... there is also a version on eBay that is made in Italy.
Mine are sold by UMMGAMAR, form Germany, and the man who designed and makes them advises they will not work on 3.1 without being re-programmed.

I have tried with & without his driver ... as soon as I went back to v2.7 all works fine.

Reallydg: How do you install the usb driver separately?

If you go to the Suunto website and look under the downloads; there's a specific driver download for the usb connection.

I just got a new Cobra 3 and I'm having issues downloading the stuff to the Dive Manager.

Using DM 3.1, When I plug in the cable it says Data Transfer on the Cobra, and I click on the download Wizard with Cobra 3 and Com3 USB serial port set (same setting as my Cobra 1) and then it says Devie Not Found.

Ok, Here's what happened.
Suunto got tired of other people producing download cables for their dive computers. Suunto wants to be the only supplier of cables, at $100 apiece it's easy to see why!!
They did what they did with the Gekko. They simply check the "USB Device Info" in the USB to UART Bridge chip that runs the USB cable. If it doesn't say "SUUNTO USB Device" they claim they can't find the device.
They can see the divecomputer fine! It's just not their cable so SDM aborts. The after market cables have IDs like "Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge", or something similar. This is in firmware and can't be changed.
This was implemented in SDM V3.1 (perhaps as early as 3.0)

Hmm, that doesn't explain why the cable worked with my Cobra 1 and SDM v 3.1 I'll try downgrading my software and try. Thats pretty ..... of Suunto, not like their products are already expensive enough.
