Hi guys,

This is my first post to the forum, I did have a look for a thread dealing with a similar thing but couldn't find one related to this particular issue.

Basically as you can see from the photo the handle on my sure lock weight system is split off from the main body. Between myself and my girlfriend we have 4 of these pockets and from looking at the others we can see that the same thing is about to happen to the other 3.

Got a couple of questions:-

1) is this a known issue and if so is it possible to get a free replacement.
2) if it is a known but accepted issue roughly how long should each pocket last (although in the future I will start inspections on this, it just never occurred to me this would happen).

Thanks very much.

Ok sorry just googled this as well and noted that there is a voluntary recall.

There was a recall of these a couple of years ago. Take them to your local dive shop and see if these are the ones covered, if so they'll replace them free (should be)

Divers direct replaced ours for free. It took less than 5 minutes

just make sure you get the material type handles not the rubber ones

Yes as the others have said this is a known and common problem. Your local Aqualung service centre should be able to replace them at no charge for the new design. They should look like this....

Charlie, if you bought it after Oct 2012, print the note from TPHILLIPS from SB then print a copy of the CPSC recall notice "Aqua Lung Recalls Buoyancy Compensators Due to Drowning Hazard | CPSC.gov" and take it to the dealer. If you notice the fine print at the bottom of the page it expains why it is illeagle to sell this BC with those particular pockets. It is always fun to watch them squirm and tap dance. If they try to feed you too much bull then it might be worth reconsidering their honesty altogether.

When did the new replacements come out as I recently bought my wife an aqualung libra bcd with what I was told were the replacement pockets but they are the ones with the plastic moulded half moon pocket replacements like the replacements in the recall notice? has there been another recall and now are material type? cheers Steve
