NJScubaDoc:
I got into diving this summer and have almost finished my AOW class. I'm just interested in seeing how much everyone has spent on this great hobby.

For me the grand total is approaching 4,500 and worth every penny.

I hope you've gotten at least 3 complete sets of gear for that kind of money

3 BCD's
3 complete regs w/ alternate air sources
3 computers
6 tanks
3 wetsuits, 3 pr's of gloves, boots, snorkels etc...

If you're telling me you spent that much on 1 set of gear... you got ripped off!

: ) Happy Diving

There's no way I'm going to add this stuff up. The addition of the doubles, regs and drysuit was bad enough. Just enjoy the view and the $$$ will follow.

Like some of the people who posted, I'm scared to death to add it up, because it's not only my gear but you have to add in my wife's gear. But I'll give you a short list:

3- dry suits
4- full reg set-ups
1-Underwater video camera and housing
1- Underwater ditigal camera and strobe
1- underwater film camera and strobe
6- BCD's
6-Tanks
1-pony bottle
4- 5/7 mm wet suits
2- 3 mm wet suits
2- skins
8- sets of fins
a moving truck worth of odds and ends

uh-oh here comes my wife, I'd better stop the list before she sees how big it is getting.

By-the-way, diving with my wife and seeing the world.......priceless.....

There is no total....keep diving...keep spending....there is always some new toy to have, some new trip to go on, and a thousand personal adventures to seek ...it is up to you, grasshopper, lol...

Without adding up the cost of equipment, just looking at my plans for diving this year and I gulp (and grin). Without the opportunity to do local shore diving, I'm estimating $11K on dives and the travel to make those dives. I plan to die poor, and this will help.

Hmmmm, how much have I spent on this sport? Don't wanna know. I know it's a lot and it's going to be a lot more since I just bought a new bp/w and that may bring more purchases in the future. All I know is that my credit card company loves me. Don't ask me how much I've spent on golf either, I may just end up crying.
