Tripadvisor has had some not so nice comments recently. I am not sure I trust them.

What did you think? I want to get the real scoop from a recent dive visitor.

Please send me a PM, I have a few questions.

Thanks.

I've been there recently, but only to stay an afternoon on the beach.

That beach is in bad shape. The sand is washed away and coral rumble remains. The shades and chairs also needs a major repair and the bar on the beach was closed: all drinks had to come from above.
I had good memories from the time it was called "Coral Cliff" and am dissapointed by the way the resort is maintained. Ii's not likely I will make another visit to the beach in the nex few years.
The statement of the overgrown tennis court is correct.

As mentioned in the first line: I cannot comment about the diving facilities. They may be good as some mentioned, or not. Just don't know. I saw several groups of divers enter and leave the sea.
The location itself is a bit far from town (in my opinion; no public transport), but the view is great.
I'ts also the place were I learnt scuba diving, a few decades ago.

Hi jdcpa,

I don't know too much about the shape Sunset Waters is in nowadays.

Anyway, if you are looking for an alternative for staying in Western Curacao and enjoying the beautiful diving here, why don't you think about diving with us at ..:: Ocean Encounters West ::.. We mainly service the following hotels and apartments:

All West Apartments (..:: All West Curacao ::..)
Kura Hulanda Lodge (Curacao Beach Resort | Lodge Kura Hulanda and Beach Club)
Marazul Dive Resort (:: Marazul Dive Resort ::)

Of course, divers staying anywhere on Curacao are welcome to dive with us!

For more information, feel free to pm me!

Sunny regards from Curacao

I didn't actually stay at Sunset Waters. I rented a villa above the Hotel. As part of our package we were allowed to use the Hotel facilities.
I can't tell you anything about the rooms. I can tell you the hotel could use some painting and updating. I thought the beach was nice and they had decent shore diving there. We had a car so we were all over the island. We ate a few nights at Sunset Waters on the buffet. It is so...so.
I would not want to be at Sunset Waters for a week or longer without a car. It is very remote. There is some good diving on that end of the island but you need a car or pick up truck to get to it. Porto Maria beach is wonderful for the family and had excellent shore diving. Actually, if I went back to Curacao I wouldn't even book with an operator.
The shore diving is excellent and there is plenty of it.
Good luck with your plans.

Sunset Waters has never been fancy, but it was getting good reviews for awhile. I know some people that went there last April and were pretty happy with it. But I read sometime since then that there was a change in management, I don't know if that showed up in a tripadvisor review, on a thread here someplace, or where I saw it. A lot of what I heard before gave me the sense that there was a really good manager that worked hard to give people a good experience, so if the management change thing is true it could certainly make a big difference.
