Is that the one I'm thinking of, with the red tail?

Yes it is. The one with the red tail is considered the "initial stage". The one I posted here is smaller than the initial stage. It was about an inch long, maybe less, and is a juvenile.
 
All those phases get me confused! Wrasse and Parrotfish are the worst for me.
