"Did Jon come forward and apologize publicly but somehow got ignored/unnoticed/unacknowledged by the instigator"
I was on that boat that day and the only thing I heard was him telling someone else (regarding the confusion on the time the boat was leaving) "I only scanned your email....I did not really read it..." Hey, we all screw up and make mistakes(I meet my quota daily it seems) but to leave 20+ people who woke up on time (real early) hanging is a little irresponsible. Happy diving!
At the risk of beating a dead horse, here's how it played out: my buddy asked me to go along to help him get shots for his booth at DEMA. He emailed Ray and reserved two spots. There was no mention of any departure times at any time and we assumed the boat was leaving at 7 a.m.
Nonetheless, I realize it's incumbent upon the passengers to be there at the right time, which is why I felt so bad in arriving late.
I apologized to everyone in the galley at least twice when we boarded. However, some people were sleeping in the bunkroom so they did not hear.
Later, my friend told me she thought she had mentioned the departure time in her email. Rather than contradict her, I apologized and said I may have scanned over it and missed that. (I checked later, and there was no mention of the departure time.)
Once again, I apologize to all those who were inconvenienced by our screw up. Thanks also for the kind words. And yes, I was guilty of being a lazy propeller diver too
(but only for the sake of the DEMA pics).
Let's get back to diving!
BTW Alexandra, your photos are great and bring back good memories of the trip.
