I agree with the sentiment of interviewing perspective instructors on the type of diving they do on a regular basis.

You want an instructor who constantly dives beyond the level that they teach. That will give them experience they can draw on and share with you.

If I was looking for an instructor to teach me wreck diving, I would want one that has dove different wrecks all over the world, not just the same old wreck in his backyard every day.
