Suggestions on Roatan

October and November are historically the wettest months of the year, but you never know. From that time period through February or so, the North/West side is not a good place to book a dive trip unless the dive op you use will bus you over to the south side to dive when it's too windy/wavy to dive there.
My preferred dates of travel to Roatan are between April and July. But if I can't make it during that time period, I go anyway! LOVE the reefs of Roatan

The fact that you are looking to go back is a clear indicator that you must have really enjoyed the diving there The south side walls out east (which is where you were) are really special. I'm glad to see you liked it!
It sounds like you stayed somewhere else and just dove with ReefHouse Resort? Can you be a bit more specific about what you're looking for in a return trip? How many dives per day did you do and how many are you looking to do on your return trip? Are you looking for an all-inclusive experience or just a dive op?

Hi CD. This trip was put together as a vacation for the wife and I and we hadnt been to Roatan. The owner of the property we stayed recommended ReefHouse, they came picked up and we dove a couple dives per day. We loved the water, we actually stayed in a bay, the water was great, clean, people friendly, etc. We have 2 older children, 24 and 22 that we got certified when got certified but their only experience a quary dive(for our open dive) and a shallow short dive in florida off St Pete's. I really want them to experience it, then they can take it from there.
I"m open to idea's. We did some exploring of the entire Island, and my wife doesn't dive so she hung out at our pool. I did 2 per day and would be looking for 2 to 3 dive's per day. The only all inclusive diving i've done is a sandels in St Lucia.

We enjoyed Turquoise Bay Resort and Subway Watersports. I have a full review on this site. Would go back anytime!

Roatan is such a great place to enjoy a family dive trip. The whole island vibe is very laid back and slow, but OH SO BEAUTIFUL!
In my humble opinion, the south shore of Roatan is the place to be. Check out our recent discussion about a few of the dive sites:

If you were looking for a great place to visit where ALL of you wanted to dive, and dive LOTS, then I would tell you that CocoView is the place to go. Since your wife is not a diver and is content to hang out at the pool, I think Media Luna Resort would be a great option for you. Disclaimer...I do book trips for Media Luna. But my priority is to find out what type of experience someone is looking for in a dive trip. The destination needs to fit your preferences and your dive personality. It sounds like your family would enjoy the diving at Media Luna. Packages include 3 boat dives per day and unlimited shore diving at the beautiful location on Half Moon Bay, which is not far from Reef House Resort where you dove before. Shore diving would be a great way for you and the kids to get in some extra practice together.

If this doesn't seem to suit you, there are many other options on the island. I tell people booking a DIVE vacation to first consider their DIVE preferences...then consider their accommodation preferences, then consider other options you might want in a vacation. Wife and I like to go in the "off" season, May to August. The weather can be iffy (hurricane season) but to date we havent missed any dives in those time frames. Lots of good resorts to stay at, some more dive focused than others. I like the south side of the island as the trips to the reef are very short.

Unfortunately, it's also hurricane season. Since Roatan is really not in a zone that is frequently hit by hurricanes, travel TO Roatan during the season is not a concern. Our problem is traveling FROM Louisiana and leaving house, home and Mom behind with the possibility of a hurricane strike while we're gone
