I will be in the area for about 3 days later this August and I am looking for a good place to go diving. I need to start and end in Tel Aviv, so proximity to Israel is a plus. I am currently trying to decide between Aqaba, Eilat, and the nearer egyptian resort towns.

Is there a discernible difference in quality of the diving between these locations? Any suggestions on specific dive shops or hotels?

Thanks

I have no experience in diving in Aqaba or Eilat but have been to Dahab twice a year for the last 4 years. I normally come into Sharm but know of divers who come down from Taba (Egyptian side of the border with Eilat), maximum 2 hours by car. Dahab has a really nice laid back feel to it with some great shore dives like the famous Blue Hole and Canyon but it also offers the opportunity to do day boat dives to Ras Abu Galoum and Gabr el Bint also (national park areas). Plenty of options for eating out in the evening also.

I always dive with Blue Realm Diving who have a really nice location no more than 5 mins walk from the main tourist area. They offer packages inc accommodation and will arrange transfers at local cost price only from any port of entry to take away the hassle of arranging them yourself.

Hope that helps.
