Hi all,
I have a week of mandated time off (whole company is off) the last week of August. I'd like to go diving and am now addicted to places like Indonesia because of the fabulously healthy reefs. I love reefs, don't need giant sharks etc. Love underwater photography. I live in central U.S. Will be a solo traveler. I was looking at Fiji but Volivoli and Paradise Taveuni seem to be booked. Is there anywhere else you would recommend in the Pacific region for that time of year? I've been to Bali, Komodo, and Wakatobi and loved them. I would like to go to Raja Ampat but wrong season. If there is somewhere you would recommend closer like the Caribbean I'm open but am spoiled by the amazing healthy reefs in Indonesia. thank you in advance.

I haven't checked for availability (I'll leave that up to you.), but I went on the Nai'a Live aboard in Fiji and it was amazing. It might be worth looking into.

One thing to consider though is that if you go to a place like Fiji, you'll be crossing the International Date Line and likely have an over night (Redeye) flight that will take 3 calendar days to get there. (You will get one of those days back as you once again cross the International Date Line on the way home.) If all you have is one week, it is a LONG way to go.

You might want to consider Roatan, while not fancy, the CoCo View has been described as a land-based live aboard, meaning that you can dive as much as you want. Their house reef, what they refer to as their "front yard" has a wreck and coral walls.
