Hi All,

I am looking for some suggestions on local diving. I live in New Hudson, MI (48165). This is just South of Milford on the Greater Metro Detroit areas West side. I am looking for suggestions on diving that is within reasonably close driving distance. I have already hit Union Lake, Gilboa, and Spring Mill Pond. Could you please offer some suggestions. Also a little feedback on diving quality, probable visibility, underwater sights, etc would be appreciated. Thanks for your feedback.

White Star is probably a little closer than Gilboa. Good divingh, 20-30 foot vis, maybe a little more, not as many sights as Gilboa, but enough I still need to go back. Mostly about 40-50 foot deep. One hole to about 60, and the rock crusher to about 70.

Lake Erie out of Cleveland with Discovery Dive Charters (the full day trip includes sandwiches, soup and drinks!). Book the trip in the late summer or early fall that's when they say the visibility is best, we went Memorial Day against their recommendation and had 2-17 feet of vis.

Portage quarry in Portage, Ohio is just south of Bowling Green and closer then Gilboa. Visibility is similiar to gilboa with max depth around 60'. Sites include an underwater silo and other misc items. They also host events in the summer.

Hey Lancelot! I'm over here in Milford! Can you see me waving?

There's a ton of wrecks in Lake Huron.
Also, over on Lapeer Rd past Oxford is Stoney Lake. Its kinda fun....... Let's see, there's a fishing boat, a sail boat, and one little fish that I know of. And you can sink your arm up to your elbow in the bottom. ;)

Another good place to find good diving destinations is the interactive map on www.lakediver.com Just click on a state and get a listing of sites. If you don't see one that should be there, send it to us through an online form and we will get it listed within a day or two.

The St. Clair River is fairly close to you and the diving is pretty good.;)
