that's nice to hear, jim.

I partialy agree. Keep the DIR practioners forum where it is at, but it does not need a subforum here. They are either tech like everyone else or they are not, no need for special handling, and they will still have the option of posting their opinions just like everyonre else with no need to limit it to straight GUE or UTD dogma.

The DIR forum was placed there in large part because it is contentious and after some members whined about non believers horning in on "their" forum and/or picking on them for their beliefs. Those problems will follow whenever you try to mix it with other tech discussion forums.

And if it gets placed here, we will get into more of the arguments whether or not it is a tech discussion, a DIR discussion or a DIR practioners discussion and that crap got old in a hurry.

In the bigger picture, other tech boards that do not set aside separate DIR forums and sub forums seem to have far fewer problems with that approach and everyone participates as equals rather than as DIR and non-DIR.

Besides, Lamont wanted that particular baby, he ought to have to be the one that has to raise it. :D
Part of the problem with the DIR forum is people knowingly post non DIR advice in there (you specifically, although not as much recently). If I can stay out of the solo section with buddy diving advice, you can do the same in the DIR section. That's my biggest complaint, and the biggest issue I see with the forum as it currently stands.

I wish they would make blackwood a mod. He seems to be polite, frequent the board, and maintain the ability to call BS all at the same time.
