After a long ride to a not so “local” dive shop and a couple hours practice in the pool my wife went to her second open water class last night and left laughing! She was way more comfortable in the water and was able to perform every task asked of her. The mask only leaked a very little, no more than you may expect when doing drills, and she could easily clear out the water and continue. It was a joy to watch her execute each skill and even better to listen to her excitement after. From a night of tears to a night of laughter and fun all because of having a mask that fits her face. Sure drives home how important it is to have the right gear. Thanks to all the board members who offered suggestions and encouraging words. Even though my wife has never been much into using the internet she was thankful for the opinions, maybe one of these days she’ll be in the new members forum.

good for her!!!...nice to hear she had fun...and you are getting a dive buddy in return...Tell her to keep smiling..it is only going to get better

Safe dive

Congratulations to your wife - I know she send me a few words of encouragement, since I had also left my class in tears. Good for her!!! I hope I get there soon. Although, right now on Long Island it's 10 degrees so it may be a while for me.

I am sure you will. I saw your post and it was like my wife wrote it. I showed it to her and she wanted to share her experience. She too felt like she was the only one. We have since learned the most of the class has taken discover scuba or had some other experience with the gear. Keep at it you will do great. Most people have different degrees of comfort with this at first.

It was well below zero her last night and I wouldn't even guess at the wind chill, but nice and toasty in the pool area. Open water wont be until June unless we go south for it.

Good luck to you!

Yaaaaayyyy, ,many congrats to the wifey.....may she still be giggling for the rest of the classes

Which mask did she settle on Saltair? (Good to know so we can have one to suggest to the slimmer faced folks among us! :) )

And congrats...and many safe dives to the both of you!

Cheers,
Austin

Congratulations to both your wife and you as a supportive buddy / spouse. We're looking forward to blowing bubbles with you two in the future in your neighborhood or mine.

I like the way you think. I keep booking trips to Latin America within 3 - 4 weeks of returning each time while it's still fresh and warm on our minds. If I wait too long my wife starts resuming the role of Queen of Frugality. :11:
