DuboisP,
I've read this over and over about the USB not being a backup device. I do use an USB flashdrive for a backup device. I have a number of high capacity ones like 128gh and 64gb. Are they not safe? What would you recommend?
drdaddy
p.s. Thank you for the note about Subsurface backup - "just copy them"
you can use USB flashdrive, but 2 or 3 for the same usage.
same for external hard drive.
I have 2 or 3 copies of my data.

external hard drive cost = $150
cost to recover the data after failure = $2000 :-(

Well kept burned CD or DVD may be more reliable. Money no object solution might be a mirrored RAID.

sure
back-up 400GB of data on DVD :blinking:
mirrored raid ? maybe . when it works.
i have a problem with one at work. a solution can be to rebuild it to know if it is a disk failure or a controller failure.
but where can i copy 6TB of video files ?

Right? Fortunately, a subsurface database will be nowhere near 6TB! :)
