Sorry, nope. Adult dragonflies can live for a month or more, (larger ones tend to live longer).

Someone out there in webspace put down "Dragonfly" instead of "Mayfly" on that list of trivia that's been going around and now it's everywhere!
I know it's a joke thread and all, but I feel the need to defend the reputation of my favourite freshwater aquatic invertebrate (my favourite freshwater aquatic vertebrate is my Ontario dive buddy :) )

<cat steps on soapbox>
The adult mayfly lives only to mate (I'd make a crude comment here but it's probably more fun to leave it open for the studio audience), has no feeding mouthparts and therefore doesn't usually live much more than a few days.
The adult dragonfly is a predator (on mosquitoes and other biting nasties, yayy!) and lives a lot longer than a mayfly, although the time spent as an adult is still much less than the multiple *years* it can spend in nymph form. I've seen dragonflies taking almost a full day just to emerge when it's cold out!

Yep, and the names of all 50 states aren't on the memorial to the dictator either.
