While in Bonaire 2 weeks ago..one of the guy's in our group...someone that i know..was all suited up and ready..he jumped in the water..with his sandles. I guess he figured that would work..it was funny.

#1 Klutz here!! Always in need of more safety training and practice.

I keep trying to put my prescription mask on over my glasses. I've jumped off once without fins, a few times without weights - once getting all the way down to the wreck wondering where the air pocket was in my BC, gotten to the gate at least with my air off, descend while stiff on my snorkel.

OMG, have i done it all? Probably not yet. :11ztongue

I can add that on a rib dive (2nd dive after ow cert) down in Weymouth, I did a backward roll off the boat and as I went back everyone started shouting at me... my mask strap wasn't on properly behind my head but when I bobbed up to the surface my mask was still there... must have been sucking hard through my nose!

divenut2001:
I can't count how many times I watched someone take a giant stride off a boat and then totally embarrassed have to ask someone topside to hand them their fins...:)

:lol3: I did this last week. It was the second dive of the day, and I wanted to get in the water. Got all set and as I took the "giant stride" I heard someone yell "fins" just as I stepped onto air. I was committed at that point, but I'm sure I had a look of "D'oh!" on my face as I hit the water.

I know we're making fun of our mistakes and the worst we experience is some embarrasmet but my dive instructor quickly brought up one where it wasn't funny. He's a technical (DIR) diver and a friend was diving with new steel double 120's off N.C. on a highly technical wreck dive. Somehow, he forgot to turn on his gas (not sure if it was air, nitrox or trimix) but jumped and quickly sank ... the outcome was not good.

So, let's make sure we don't make really STUPID mistakes.
