Anyone up for a trip to Strode Lake (Canton, IL) one day this weekend (6/5 or 6)?

What's the vis like lately? I may be able to pull it off........
Hey big guy,

Don't know. Last time I was there was for the Easter egg hunt, and my buddy and I had to rope ourselves togeather while we blindly rooted through the mud. It's got to be better than that.
I Googled Strode lake and found this local dive shop:

According to them, there is some kind of a "scavenger hunt" on Saturday.

Scavenger hunt....ooh, sounds like silt fest. I visited there once, and the water looked really clear, then we dove it and vis was horrible, but the guys at the park office said the lake was turning (late summer) and it was much worse than normal.

I did notice that the bottom has a very thick layer of silt, and if kicked up could destroy the place. I need to go "somewhere" and practice with reels and do some valve drills, so Strode would work fine for that. Maybe the following weekend will work better for me, but I'd definitely like to get in a couple cheap dives there.

Have you been to the deep section (60 ft)? I only swam around the boats/van and stuff where the buoys are.

I've only been there twice: the easter egg hunt and for a class, so I havn't done any sightseeing. This weekend works for me, either day. Next weekend (6/12-13) I'm doing a wrecking crew charter in southern Lake Michigan, so if you can't do this weekend, we'll have to do it some other time.
