Why not just use the video light when taking stills and therefore eliminate the strobe? Is the light better/worse? Thanks
 
this will work for macro. depending on the light you use. i cant say it's better or worse. but i used to use a sola 1200 and the photos came out a bit too harsh.
 
Can't you just dial the intensity down?
