I've been using the DS-50 with my 3020 in a PT-010. I do use a piece of plastic to block the internal strobe for most shots. For close-ups, I turn off the external strobe and
unblock the internal.

The plastic I used was from a discarded key-card from our local Marriott hotel. I found it
sturdy yet easily cut to shape.

I finally placed an order for a strobe. I went with the Inon D-2000W w/ fiber optic cable and the Ulcs ultralight setup. Hopefully I made the right decision. I read in other forums though that the manual is in Japanese. Does anyone know if it comes with a manual in English? I think I read somewhere that someone is working towards translating it to English?

oops ditto that.

I concur with Domino22 I have used Inon D180 (now the D2000) for the last two years and have been more than happy :D with it's performance and reliability.
Give the Inon some serious thought.
