Just thinking I may add some Strobe arm floats to my rig. But instead of buying the EXPENSIVE STIX floats has anyone ever used Pool Noodles and just cut them the length needed? How did they work out?

I suspect that everyone has tried them then put them back in the pool. They compress mightily at depth and aren't terribly useful. For a less expensive version you can use divinycell. Not compressible at most recreational depths. The joy of divinycell is that you can cut it to length and shape it with hand tools. BUT a set of Stix floats for 2 x 8 inch arms is $80. They will last for at least 10 years so if you dive 100 dives/year it will be about 8 cents/dive. Divinycell comes in big sheets so you will need to find someone to share it with (Our dive club bought a bunch).

+1 pool noodles back in the pool - completely useless.
I have had success with deep ocean fishing floats used for drift nets. They do not compress at depth and the set currently on my rig have 120 dives on them and work as well now as they did when I put them on. Just about to go to my marine store and buy a couple more as I have added more lights so need a bit more floatation. Really inexpensive, I think each float is about $5.00 CAN which is several cents USD.

I'm using fishing net floats PVC Sponge Floats
So far they are holding up beautifully, I've noticed no compression at depth. I had to enlarge the center hole to 1" so they would slide over the strobe arms.
