If your strobe doesn't have an aiming light on it, you may find it useful to rubber band a small light to your strobe. If you line the reflector cup with some crumpled alum foil, it will disperse the light, avoiding a hot spot in your photos.
 
Luckily Dee I have the same strobe as you, so will learn to use it now :wink:

While getting used to the D-180, I was amazed at where my strobe was pointing when I thought it was in the right place. Practice, pracrice practice!
