Hello, I am a freshman attending Arizona State University. I am writing a research paper on decompression sickness. The catch is that it is an advanced composition class so I have to find a way to weave together research on the bends and a detailed story about someone who has experienced it. The paper will not be published and will only be read by my professor. If you are comfortable telling your story it would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to read The Last Dive - the book culminates in the bends taking the life of two experienced divers.

DvrLiz1 on this board is a volunteer nurse for the chamber on Bonaire.

She might have some pointers!

Thank you so much for the responses! It's great to hear any suggestions!

The Rubicon Research Repository maintained by the Rubicon Foundation is a wonderful online library of diving-related research articles. The public has free access to it.

Although many divers use decompression algorithms to help them manage DCS risk, we still don't understand the specifics of DCS pathophysiology in humans.

Good luck with the assignment.

You should talk to some of the widows and children left behind. :(
