I have found a small (10in) extractor fan on one wall opposite the door creates a decent amount of circulation without having to go all out with a dehumidifier. I cut a few vents in the bottom of my door to increase the draft, then attached some mosquito netting to those vents for bugs and crap.
After drip drying my gear in the afternoon, it's dry to the touch the next day.
Saying that, a dehumidifier is better. Mine is cheaper

Thanks! We dive in the cold north up here so the shack is insulated and I heat it so the drying stuff does not freeze during the winter time. I wish I had better cross ventilation in the warmer months so I did not need a dehumidifier.

Sweet!! what height is the work bench? Sitting or standing?

Workbench is at 36 so I can use a bar stool or stand. I mostly stand unless I am rebuilding regs

Couple of comments. The work looks nice, wish my scuba area was so clean and pretty.
- Paint or finish the floor now, before it gets wet and dirty.
- Someday add a 4x8 sheet of peg board. As you accumulate bits and pieces of gear you can store it on wall so you don't loose them in a bin some place
- You have a beautiful big window... which will display you fine gear and provide an alternate entry for scumbags, might want to add bars or some other security steps

You can frost the glass with a spray from most any hardware store. That is what I did to my windows.
Any kind of air movement will help dry gear. Ceiling fans work great, and free from craigslist would be the bestest.
You have a lot of BC's, regs, fins, etc. there. Are they used for students or do you have a large diving family?
