I stopped my birth control pills a week ago. I was on a pill called Kariva for 5 months. It caused weight gain and headaches. I would also get stomache pains and sick a lot. I stopped because my husband and I want to have another baby. I'm a little scared if being on the pill will raise a problem with getting pregnant anytime soon. I've been bleeding ever since I stopped the pill. Is this normal? Has anyone ever been on Kariva?

There are so many variables, I would strongly suggest you call your private MD and ask these questions, rather than solicit answers from someone who doesn't know your medical history.

I used Kariva for a while and then went to the patch for a month which I hated, so now I'm back with the Kariva. Its just a generic brand of the pill, I haven't had any problems with it, but then again everybody's body is different.

Depending on where you were in your cycle when you stopped taking the pill, yes, it can be perfectly normal. Your cycle is mediated by all kinds of different hormone cascades. But call your Dr. like they said, to give yourself peace of mind.

And good luck conceiving! :D

Kariva is the generic for Mircette. I've not had any problems with Kariva or Mircette. Be sure to contact your MD.

I was on kariva for a year and recently switched to ortho tri cyclen lo. I had headaches almost daily with kariva and experienced abdominal pain alot. I felt nauseas some days and was very moddy, I did lose weight but I am also taking a supplement. I have had trouble toning up and I think it was birth control related.

You poor thing that doesn't sound like fun. It is probably your body having an almighty period now that it is no longer suppressed by the hormones. I am sure it will settle down soon, though like the others, I would suggest you saw your doctor if only for peace of mind.

On a slightly different note, and hope I am not stating the obvious here, but do be wary of diving if you really are trying for a baby. I am sure you know to avoid diving whilst pregnant, however there have been instances where the mother hasn't realised, and had continued diving unaware of the potential danger.

Anyway, I wish you all the best conceiving and look forward to hearing the good news.:D
