swankenstein:
I used to walk out to the end of the breakwater every weekend for a couple of years. Now I only do it every couple of months (getting old). After several near-death experiences (hallucinations give you something to do on the hike), I now hose off my head with cold water from the tap behind the dive shop before walking out. It makes a huge difference. I even do this in the winter.
I've done that walk to many times. I will only do that dive now with a scooter and enter on the first corner.

You mean some people don't sweat under their drysuit? Woah!

When I first when dry I didn't know if my suit was leaking or was just sweating a lot.

Not ALL drysuits come in black, mine is RED!

Divng Ogden point - my strategy:

Set up all gear.
Get into dry suit and dump all air
Wet drysuit, head and hood in sea or under shower in dive shop
Gear up and walk out breakwall until it gets too hot/uncomfortable
Enter water and swim out on surface
Remember why snorkels are useful and that I should have brought one along as it is boring swimming on your back
Continue swim out on surface until it gets too hot/uncomfortable
Begin scuba dive
