So I'm starting to go diving stir crazy... I can't wait to get out there this spring.

No diving and no beer makes Homer something something...

I know what you mean. I was out for the water for 2 weeks a few weeks ago due to a torn neck seal. I almost went crazy. I swear I had withdrawal symptoms and such.

Why did you stop for the winter?

I didn't necessarily stop for the winter, though many of my usual buddies don't dive this time of year. This is just a busy time of year (I don't think I've had a free weekend for two months) and there's no open-water close enough that it's not a whole-day outing.

I'm going to *try* to get out in a couple of weeks if Humber Bay park near Toronto is still open... say March 15/16th. If only there was some kind of online forum where I could find a dive buddy. :)

Bummer, I hate work for the same reason. It interfers with diving. Though I am lucky that my work does not like me working overtime so my weekends are mine. I feel your pain though.

I found when I first started diving until I got a regular group that I dive with, is to find out what dive shops are in the area and what days they have their shop dives. Get out and meet the divers and get phone numbers or emails at the same time. My group uses facebook to make dive plans and I have noticed a lot of dive shops and groups have done this also. Try using the search feature on face book and see what comes up.

I did not want to join face book and this is the only thing I use it for but I have to say it has worked out great as face book can be checked at any computer, even work;)

Hope you get out soon. I would offer to go with you but you are on the wrong side of the country for me, sorry.

Hey, ACR, try this: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/basic-scuba-discussions/222087-all-cold-none-overhead.html (Six of us from Dean's Dive.)

Remember last fall a couple of Ontario SB'ers were trying to get out to BBP, myself included? And it didn't work out....:(

Well, let's try a Humber Bay outing...I may try this weekend if the driving is ok, but your March date could do also.

Looks like a good, frozen time was had by all. The 15/16th weekend works best for me and I'd be game to head up to Cedar Hill if one can still get to the open water. Who knows, we could have another 50cm of snow by then.

Ok, let's keep in touch, I can get reports of ice coverage conditions at Colpoys Bay....

Hi,

I would be interested in getting out as well. Depending on what is going on at home of course.

I don't think ACR is going to like this next comment, as I understand what he means by stir crazy and not getting wet. I had two great dives in Vancouver today. On the second dive we saw a buffalo sculpin, red irish lord, and a seal dove with us for a bit. Vis was 30+ feet. :D

Cheers,
Bill.

Sounds like we my get a good little crew going...

And yes Bill, I'm jealous... though I think if I were out in Vancouver I'd have to do a day (or two or three) of diving followed by a day (or two or three) up in Whistler :)
