I have a Vytec with the factory Suunto download cable and I can download my Vytec data with no problems.
My friend just got a brand new Stinger and we were told that the Vytec cable could download the Stinger but you had to hold them together. We got the Stinger into TC-PC mode and held the data cable to the water contact and the Stinger displayed its on-screen code for a water contact. But when I tell the PC to start the transfer, it tells us that the connection timed out. We tried several times this morning and managed to get it to download once successfully. Once the transfer took all the data came down without a problem. We went diving today and just tried to download again with no success (my Vytec downloaded perfectly).
Are there any "tricks" with timing or order of clicking things that you have to do to get this to work? Does anybody use the Suunto cable or the DYI cable to download their Stinger?
