For open water rec sidemount? Sure. But then again I don't really see the point much for open water rec sidemount in the first place.

For decompression or overhead diving, no, not at all. Backgas only deco maybe? I guess?
 
that triangle method looks awesome
 
I just finished my sidemount course here in Okinwawa, I use sliding D Rings to deal with the AL80's, but I admit the Triangle method is peaking my interest. May definitely be giving it a try on my next dive, tomorrow before work maybe? I'll let everyone know if I get the chance!
