Well, the Genesis tanks are definitely 3442 psig tanks.

However, I'm really confused about the Worthington tanks now. Apparently, due to some misinformation out there regarding the stamping on Worthington tanks, the shop that sold me these tanks did so believing they were 100 cu ft tanks. Of course, I bought them believing they were 100 cu ft tanks.

As it turns out, there is one source out there that says the number after the REE stamp on the tank is the tank size. But, there are other sources that say that number is an elastic expansion number used during hydro. As fate would have it, that number on my tanks is 100 which is why the shop thought they were 100 cu ft tanks. It appears that the "X" and the number that follows the REE and number is the tank diameter and size in cubic feet. So, an X7100 would be a 7+ inch diameter tank with a 100 cu ft capacity and an X7120 would be a 7+ inch diameter tank with a 120 cu ft capacity.

That being said, both of the tanks are stamped "X8130". So, 8 inch diameter 130 cu ft tanks? Is that correct or just wishful thinking on my part?

Thanks for everyone's input thus far.

Deleted. My internet is acting up and caused a double post. Sorry.

yeah, x8-130 means they are 8 inch diameter 130cf tanks. if you have a scale, the x8 130 will be nearly 10 pounds heavier at around 43 to 44 pounds empty. ree is the rejection parameter during hydro not the model number and on the x7-100s is around 75

I have a pair of nice Faber HP100s that I would happily send you in exchange for the pair of Worthington X8-130s. I'll pay frieght. Both ways. But then, if you don't want to keep them, you can probably find a better deal locally.

Well, the reason I went to this shop in the first place was to get my Genesis HP100s filled. And, I was planning on taking advantage of an offer they were running on AL80s with the purchase of a block of pre-paid fills. While my HP100s were being filled I was offered the Worthington tanks. When I looked at them I knew immediately that there was something different about them compared to my Genesis tanks. But, they appeared in good condition and had just been hydro tested in April. So, I decided to take them as I was already in the market for at least one more tank. The folks at the shop checked the pressure in the Worthingtons and decided that they needed to be topped off.

When we took the Worthington tanks out back to top them off and set them down beside my Genesis tanks, the difference was dramatic. I asked the owner if they could be 120s but, he didn't think so. He actually pulled an HP120 out of the shop that was the same diameter as my Genesis HP100s but, dramatically taller. Based on that, we both concluded that they weren't 120s. Technically, we were correct. But, I never dreamed they could be 130s.

I've had a string of bad luck recently. I guess I was finally due for some good luck.

Thanks again everyone for the input.

Definately Worthington hp130s, they may have "XS Scuba" stamped on them too. Search for "Worthington X-series" to get info on them. Nice tanks with good bouyancy characteristics. I have a bunch and like them a lot.

You're absolutely correct. I didn't notice it the first couple of times I looked at the tanks. However, they are stamped XS Scuba. I didn't mention it in my previous posts because I didn't think anyone was that familiar with them. I'm very happy I stumbled into purchasing them. I've been very happy with my HP100s even though they aren't Worthingtons. I can't wait to try out the 130s this weekend.
