--Just a follow up the camera saga for anyone curious about State Farm coverage...

Today they paid me what I paid for the D-200 and the 12-24mm lense. They are now covering the new camera under the same premium. There was no deductible, the rate they say is the same, and it took about five weeks, although I have not called or prodded them along. FWIW..

I give them an A- or B+ based on the time.

I am fortunate to have a great agent who is on top of things.
wow, my agent does not do anything except collect the money.

My own view is that the "less specialized" the insurer is, the fewer questions, requirements, exceptions, etc.

One mistake I made was that I did not insure the housing, I overlooked the fact that when they flood it is about 350.00 to rebuild the electronics, no biggy in the scope of things I guess.

I was surprised that I had no deductable, I did not remember that part.

what is a MMII?

I guess it helps that my agent at the time was my father-in-law, and my wife worked for him. :D He has since retired, so I moved my policies over to his brother. :D

A MMII is a Sea & Sea Motor Marine II. It's what I used to shoot before I went DSLR.

I'm glad to hear it worked out so well.

I too have my D200, 12-24, housing, and a bunch more gear on a SF PAP.

I am wondering if when I add the housing this time, if I can /should only cover the cost for rebuilding it if it floods...I don't really feel I need coverage for losing it. The cost after it floods to rebuild the electronics was 350 but the housing is 1600 or so.

Since I check everything in luggage I guess it is worth insuring the replacement..

I have everything insured for full value. Then no matter what happens, it's covered. The difference in the premium in $350 vs $1600 is about $25 per year.
