PADI Open Water referral course that is, I know how some of you feel about that !!! ;)

Anyway, I'm very excited and a little nervous. I have read the book cover to cover, seen both videos, completed all the knowledge reviews and start the pool dives in 48 hours. Any last minute tips ?

Also, at this level, what can help make me a good buddy for my fellow trainee ???

Matt

Just one: Enjoy the hell out of it!

I would say that at this point (other than staying in relatively close proximity), I wouldn't worry too much about your buddy skills (that'll come soon enough)--that'll be the concern of the instructor and/or any assistants. You'll probably be busy enough concentrating on yourself.

Have fun!

:) Yeah, don't worry - I rekcon you'll have a great time. Don't worry about the buddy thing. For the pool sessions, just concentrate on what you're doing. The instructor will be making sure all his/her students are ok. You've done all the reading and homework so you should feel confident in the knowledge that you've done all you can before you get in the water.

Have a great time!

Where are you doing the open water element of the course? I did mine in the 'not so sunny in November' Portland!

At the risk of making everyone jealous..... I am completing the Open Water part of the course in Ras Um El Sid, Sharm, in Egypt in a little over a month !

Matt

....or at least passed the confined water part !!!! Including all the optional extra skills.

Now I have my theory test tonight (eeeek !) then on October 2nd head for Sharm and the four open water tests. Fingers crossed eh !

Matt

Well done! Hope the theory went ok too. I went to Sharm in June. It was amazing - you'll love it. Damn hot though. We were even lucky enough to see a few sharks.

Good luck and enjoy your course!

Heard great things about the Red Sea and I am envious.

Whew, done it !!! All confined water dives completed and passed the theory test with.... wait for it...... 100% ! I nearly fell off my chair when I found out.

Off to Sharm in less than a month to do my four OW dives. Fingers crossed I will be seeing some of you under the sea some time soon.
