In a few years we can say Cancun... Cozumel, on the topside there's no difference. But below the surface, now that's another story. Sound good to everyone. But I suppose the conveniece of the Big Mac, Whopper and Grande whatever is worth it to some people. We choose to travel or live in a foreign place like Cozumel because we love the differences from home. Well soon those differneces will be less and less. When I feel like corporate America has caught up to me, I will travel somewhere else. I sure hope that's not going to be the case is Cozumel.

As for coffee. No need for a Starbucks to show Mexico what good coffee is. There is a great coffee called Mexican Altura that is exported around the world. Best roasted dark, deep robust falvors with a clean crisp aftertaste. You won't find it in a Starbucks, they would never spend that much money on COG. You can often find it in good local shops in the US.

I am 95% sure THIS is the coffee my friend brings back from Vera Cruz for me everytime she goes! I don't have any currently...but I'll ask her to be sure...but you are 100% correct...it's the best coffee I've ever had!

:rofl3::rofl3::rofl3:

i have in the past, spent considerable amount of time at Starbucks with my laptop. i shall not hold it against you, catherine.... in most cases, one of my multi tasking activities then was chatting.

The difference is that in Hawaii you have some GREAT coffee houses! We don't here...unless as I said in a previous post...you want to come out smelling like an ashtray and coughing!

In the states, Starbuck's was an easy and good daily option, but on weekends I used to go to Mozart's on Lake Austin for my coffee...I also spent alot of time studying there when I was in school. THAT place I miss more than Starbuck's...I would love .a place like that in Cozumel!

And actually...some of my favorite coffee EVER is on the North Shore of Oahu. When I was living there right near Sunset Beach in 1995...I spent my mornings in Halliewa at the coffee house (my Mind is drawing a blank on the name of it right now) Even after I moved back to TX, I ordered that coffee and had it shipped to me almost monthly for a long time...until I discovered Mozart's and became accustomed to Starbuck's!

HA! I thought I was the only one to get so excited about the opening. I live in Florida, but was there last week watching the construction and then one day I past by on the way to Carlos and Charlies and...I was opened!

It's fun to travel and see the different cultures. I was in Cannes Australia and they had Hungry Jack's, it was an exact clone of Burger King.

That's because it was a Burger King, essentially. When Burger King wanted to move into Australia, there was already a shop in Queensland that had trademarked the name. Burger King changed to use to name "Hungry Jack's" instead. (Hungry Jack's - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

And I do eat at the Pizza Hut in Cozumel, but only when I want something sit down but relatively quick; it's very close to the hotel I've stayed at in the past. Dinner is time to go out and explore.

Then again, I'm not particularly adventuresome, culinary-wise, at least.

I can't believe people get so excited about coffe, it's morning medicine to me. Teaspoon of instant added to hot water, add milk, repeat 3 times, start the day.

The ones that have it bad are the people buying beans for exorbitant prices that have been eaten by some weird animal and then defecated. Ummmmmmmmm
