It seems to me that having to resecure stage /deco hoses is more cumbersome than it needs to be with elastic bands, inner tube tire rubber, or bungees.

I find myself spending more time than I should putting everything back together to do a gas switch or going to back gas. I haven't tried to do this with dry gloves yet, but I image that it is even more difficult. A knob or tab seems to help some, but still does not seem to be optimal.

Even once properly secured, I have had the hose come loose or get out of position.

Anybody do something better?

I put a knot in the truck inner tube band which serves as a hand hold.

bungees will just roll off the top of the tank

put your rubber band over the stage rigging and it gives you a place to grab it easier

After years of bungee and inner tube, I bought a few of the silicone tank bands from Piranha Dive, work great with drygloves and come in bright colours which makes it easier on my old eyes.

Hog rings and pliers make quick retainer bands out of 3/16" bungee. Make them tight and then they don't slide.

If diving cold water and thick gloves, I don't expect divers would appreciate the benefits of bungee over rubber. You'd have to grab via a knot/tab anyway.

If using a knot/tab to help stow the hose, the only real pro/con is whether the band does a good job securing the hose.

With thinner gloves, you can (re-)stow hoses very deftly and neatly using bungee.. and that can be done single-handed. The technique involves lifting the bungee with the forefinger and stuffing hose through using the thumb.

I use a thick bungee cord with a plastic ball (like one of those tank bangers) threaded through it. Two actually, one higher and one lower. The plastic ball makes it super easy to find and grab with gloves on and it has dramatically improved the ease with which I can re-stow a stage hose. Then having the hose bungeed in at two spots holds it quite securely.
