I did a search and found a little bit talking about Catalina's versus Luxfer, but a lot of it seems to come down to "well the Catalina's are annoying....so I've heard". I just picked up 4 used tanks (http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/tanks-valves-bands/224871-score.html#post3437164) one of which is a Luxfer that I had intended to keep, and two Catalina's that I was going to sell off at least one, but started thinking about keeping one. Are the Cat's useless for stages when I get to that point, or is it just a matter of them being less ideal than the Luxfers? Is there anyone using Catalina 80's for stage or deco?

Thanks,
Jim

I've used Cat 40s for stages and I can tell the subtle differences between them and the Luxfers. I prefer Lux. I'm getting some Hy Mark cylinders soon. I've heard they are just as nice as the Luxfers, but cheaper. :)

The Cats are about 4LBS. more neg.

According to that chart, the Luxfer 80 and the Cat S80 are damn near identical in terms of buoyancy number, I guess it comes down to how the buoyancy is distributed.
