This is great information. I am having a physical done Tuesday and I'm going to ask about PFO. I want to find out if that is a problem and have it dealt with if it is an issue for my health. Thanks to all. Surely mermaid, I have had no further symptoms since the second chamber visit. I was quite weak on my mountain biking for a few weeks but I'[m rounding back into shape on it as well.
 
From what I've read people with PFOs seem to have a higher risk for DCS.

Correct. It is supposed to occur in about 25% of the population. The relevance for divers is that we rely on blood flow to the lungs to filter out the inert gas. By allowing venous blood containing nitrogen to bypass the lungs, PFOs, are a predisposing risk factor for decompression sickness.
