Hello:

After purchasing a used halcyon plate w/ STA on ebay I realized the STA covers the crotch slot (figures right?). If I move the STA up one set of bolt holes to avoid the slot the STA extends above the plate by 1" Is this a problem or should I cut the STA down?

See Pic.
Thank you.

It just covers the hole and hits the strap, but it shouldn't change the function of the strap. If you move it up one bolt hole you might hit your head on the first stage. If you decide to try and cut the STA keep in mind you will be trying to cut high grade stainless steel, no easy feat without the proper tools. I would leave it alone.
I just checked my Halcyon STA, I heven't used it in quite a while so I wanted to check to be sure, and the STA covers the hole too. Don't sweat it, it's fine the way it is, but be sure to get another opinion from someone who can look at the actual BC STA combo incase another issue is in question.
Congratulations on the new rig.

Thats what I was thinking...

Perhaps I can get a thinner strap, I have about a 1/16" gap, that will shrink as weight is applied to the STA because the plate holes have wear. Which leads me to another thought - I didnt think plates could wear out but if the mounting holes get too much wear, the STA has some play in it. Something for used plate buyers to watch out for?

Hey thanks for looking at your setup for me. :new_olymp
