Did a week in St. T, last year and stayed at the Rennaisance hotel...$98 a night....and it is the hotel chris sawyer dive group is associated with. ditto..liked his operation.
night life in St. T. is primarily downtown...and that can be a harrowing cab ride and you def do not want to drive it yourself.... talk about rebirth of the kamikazi...
St John on the other hand is great place to rent a car and drive around on...and easy to drive on because only has three roads that go up and down the island.
there is a dive shop in the town where the ferry drops you on St John and you can rent a car for $45 to 60 a day.... a great thing to do is get there early in the morning...and i mean around 7 am...rent a car and head out to the beaches...if you go off season...you could be the only person on the beach...and there is some ok off shore diving too.
on St T. there is one organized shore dive...but im old and dont remember the name...but if you go to chris sawyer's web site he has a write up and pics...
try "Duffy"s" on St. T. ... and there is a great Irish bar across the street from duffys
