I'll be in St. Maarten during the regatta in early march for work. I'll have a few mornings off and I'm wondering if its worth it to dive? Everyone says the diving is ok at best. I'm limited in what gear I can travel with because of equipment for work. Any suggestions?

I know I'm staying on the french side (don't know what hotel yet).

Thanks,
Marque

I enjoy the diving in SXM. I've been twice--once for my OW and then back again last November--and both experiences were very good. We had one exceptional dive on the tugboat where we saw countless stingrays all over it, as well as a hammerhead shark!

Sylvie and Fabien run a great little op on Orient Beach called Neptune Divers that I can heartily recommend.

Happy diving :)

I went with Octopus Diving on my last trip and had a great experience. Very comfortable boat, smaller group, and the DM'S couldn't have been more helpful.
As far as the sites, I saw plenty of sea life, 'cuda,rays,turtles...and the water was 83 degrees with unlimited vis.All things considered....too good to pass up.

I give a second thumbs up for Octopus diving as well.

The dives we did with them were better than I has been lead to believe that they would be!

I just found out I'll have all of March 5th and the morning on the 7th so...I'll see whos got what trips.

Thanks,

Diving is ok. If you have the time take the ferry to Saba Great diving!

I booked a dive for each morning on the 5th and 7th with Octopus. It turns out they are also just one block from my hotel. $100 for two one tank dives and they're providing all the gear is a good deal to me, especially because for this trip I don't have room to take everything with all the work gear. I'll recap and upload any photos when i get back.

Any sites that anyone has found is better than others?
